Short term social visit pass is applied at Malaysian embassy overseas. Certain nationalities may be given Short Term Social Visit Pass upon arrival for the purpose of:

  1. Social visit
  2. Visiting Relatives
  3. Tourism
  4. Journalist / Reporter
  5. Meeting / Conference
  6. Business Discussion
  7. Factory Inspection
  8. Auditing Company’s Account
  9. Signing Agreement
  10. Doing survey on investment opportunities/setting up factory
  11. Attending Seminars
  12. On goodwill mission for students or sitting for examinations in University
  13. Taking part in sports competitions
  14. Other activities than above, approved by the Director General of Immigration.

Extension Social Pass Visit (FREE)

An Extension may be given on Special consideration e.g. due to illness, accident, war in home country etc. The visitor must furnish evidence, and also a “confirmed flight ticket’ back to their home country or third country.

Important for Students:

Effective 01/01/2014, foreigners holding Visit Pass (Social) who wish to study in Malaysia cannot convert their pass to Student Pass to in Malaysia. Following this the Journey Performed Visa will no longer be issued.

Foreign students must remain in their country of origin during the processing of their Student Pass application. For nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia, they must apply for the Visa with Reference when they have got the approval of their Student’s Pass.
Foreigner students in the following categories are exempted from this requirement :
  • Primary School
  • Secondary School
  • Private School
  • International School
  • Expatriate School
